Hello all

Just joined after purchasing a 2010 plate Jazz 1.4 i-VTEC SI. Traded in my old Civic Sport and stayed with Honda. Very pleased with my purchase so far  :)

Welcome Alan.
You obviously won't get the same performance as your old Civic Sport but you may be surprised how lively the 1.4 Jazz can be if you are prepared to use the gearbox and let the engine rev.
Super, high octane, fuel can give a slight gain in performance across the board as does a K&N filter but only, again, at the higher revs.
Using the performance will not help your fuel consumption of course.

Vic.

Hi Vic,

Yes noticed the initial low down power isn't on par with the Civic but otherwise seems sprightly enough. Always been a fan of the free-revving VTEC engines.

However, already making gains on fuel consumption :-) And lots new bells and whistles too.

Alan

Welcome! I think you'll find the 99BHP 1.4 Jazz not far behind the Sport in terms of performance and big improvement in fuel consumption  ;-)

I agree about the fuel consumption, although the 1.8 Civic can be quite frugal if you drive it like the vicars wife (but who can drive such a lovely engine like that?) - can't agree on the performance,  the Civic wants to get up and go right from the off (and has 6 gears), but the Jazz doesn't have much ooomph below 3.5 to 4K revs.  I have to plan overtaking in my wifes 1.4 Si - my Civic is just ready to go when an opportunity arises.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot
