The most I have managed to squeeze into my Hybrid is 33.48 litres with the computer saying 13 miles remaining, so that's very similar to your experience. The full tank is 40 litres.

I have deduced that the cause of the problem is that once the gauge gets below about 1/4, the computer changes the calculation of miles remaining from using the full tank capacity (ie predicting up to 600 miles on a full tank) to wanting the miles remaining to be 0 when the gauge gets to empty. I think that somewhere in the handbook it is stated that there's around 7 litres remaining when the gauge is 0. It's annoying because one would expect the computer to be more accurate than the gauge, but one needs to be prepared to push the miles remaining into the negative zone. (not that I have done so, yet).

Most probably  ;).

To put it right, when the low level fuel warning light comes on than around 8 litres fuel left in the tank.
My GD`s fuel tank is 42 litres.

Just found the Jazz brochure, petrol Jazz has a 42 litre tank, hybrids, just 40 litres.  ;D

Yes, 40 l is also what I have seen. I'm not sure why they decided to produce a different slightly smaller tank. Most customers would prefer the extra range that the Hybrid should give with the standard tank.

My GD low fuel warning light came on yesterday at 300 miles. Drove another 27 miles, by this time the needle was on the red, put in 36.9 litres therefore 5.1 litres left in tank. Actual consumption = 40.3 mpg, computer indicated 42.1. I agree that there is about 8 litres left when the light comes on.

40.3mpg, that's a bit poor.  My 2007 Jazz CVT does 44-45mpg combined usually, and it has 62.5K on the clock.

I hope to get a Jazz Hybrid loan car next week while mine goes in for service, but 40mpg is not even worth considering.

I usually get 320miles before the low level light comes on, and on a good run up to 370 miles.

Not a hybrid but in my 1.4ES- I'm actually quite bad in that I can drive up to 40 miles with the indicator showing 0 miles before filling up as I know theres still petrol in the tank.

Most I've ever filled up is 37 litres

ps- the indicator doesnt go negative- just stays on 0

yes, it stays on 0 for another 150 km mileage or so (depended on mpg).
Honda, Honda ... just Jazz speciality I was told 3 years ago, everything according to the Jazz's service book.
I use simpl math to calculate expected mileage.
