Carplan Black Trim Wax - Recommended Product.
« on: April 26, 2021, 05:54:27 PM »
The lower windscreen surrond on my MK2 Jazz was looking very tired, so I tried Carplan Black Trim Wax.

Before:

After treatment:

One month later! Still looking good.  :D

I am really impressed with how well the product has worked and kept the trim black. I was expecting it to fade after a week. After a month I was expecting the surround to be back to looking as it had prior to treatment. The proof of the pudding and all that. Carplan trim wax is great and lasts a long time making it fantastic value for money and well worth the £5.63 it cost me.  :D

I was inspired to do the same to my Jazz after seeing your earlier posts about this product, it’s great stuff, easy to apply and cheap. Hasn’t faded yet either, although it’s yet to experience any heavy rain so far...

Good stuff isn't it. You make a very good point about rain. I hadn't factored that in! Might not last as well when we go back into rainy season.

Whenever I buy new car cleaning stuff, I find it can be quite difficult. There is such a bewildering array of products that claim to do the same job, but cost hugely different amounts. So when I find something that works, I'm always happy to recommend.

Yes it’s a good buy. Keep meaning to get some of the autoglym resin polish as I’ve seen it recommended on here also.

I used to use similar on bikes and cars,  think it was called simoniz black chrome or something, but it actually had black pigment in it,  found that was becoming hard to find so used the carplan,  which also had black pigment - now i use AutoGlym exterior trim polish - which is transparent blue colour - a lot less messy to apply than the ones with pigment and water still beads up on it for over a long time.  Never really clean the paintwork - only ever do the black trim and headlights,  I use AutoGlym super resin polish on headlight plastic about once a  month and it stops the plastic going cloudy ( like suntan cream for headlights ).
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Good advice to wax the headlights too. I do so with the stuff I use.

My favourite wax is easier to use than furniture polish. Two squirts per panel and just wipe off. It really is the easiest wax I've ever used and the results are brilliant. One bottle lasts ages.

Looks good, I’m using turtle wax ‘wax it wet’ at the moment, but might try that once it runs out. Never really bothered trying to keep on top of car cleaning, but would like to try and preserve the Jazz for as long as possible!

3 months on it’s still holding up, hasn’t weathered and looks good.

The black trim wax is definitely a good investment!

I'd agree with that. I've given my surround one very light re application over the last 3 months, and it still looks really good.

I reckon I will be some time getting through my bottle of carplan product, so it really is fantastic value.
