PCP dealer obligations.
« on: November 30, 2022, 10:35:05 PM »
If I agree to purchase a new car today on PCP and the car has a delivery/build time of three or four months, must the dealer now, at point of ordering, give me a firm price for my present car - or can he give a likely estimate but say that it might change when the new car is ready, due to changes in the market value at that time?  If so it seems strange that the future car is already costed but the exchange car has to take the luck of a future market.  Any knowledge of how to play this?

When I've used PCP in the past we've agreed the price and that was it, it never altered no matter how long the exchange took.
Don't you have anything in writing ?
It will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end !

You might agree on the number of extra miles you put on it (no more than a certain amount) and maybe service it a final time if it is due within that period. But they have to be able to come up with a reasonable price and stick to it (and put it on paper). Otherwise I would find another dealer…

Check the wording fully and carefully of any agreement before signing. Sales staff can have short memories.

Sales staff can have short memories.

And short careers.
