Can you drive in the B gear all the time or should you change?

I think you have to change in to D mode   to use cruise control but you can if you wish always use B mode  at other times.

Its a regular matter of debate on the forum.  Some drivers  prefer B mode which gives a greater  level of 'engine braking ' which in some circumstances is like  one pedal driving - on the throttle you go ,come off the throttle you come to a stop  .   Others prefer D mode   which still has some engine braking but  feels more like a 'normal' car.   Some  regularly swop between the two  depending on driving circumstances  . You can change between the two on the move.

But its a personal choice.  Give both a try and see which you prefer .      I prefer to use D mode most of the time.

I concur with all of the above, however,  my preference is mostly ‘B’ mode, except of course when ACC is required.
As said, it’s all personal choice ;D

Previously, I did everything in D mode... but now, around town, twisty A/B roads and country lanes I prefer B mode. I only switch to D mode on long straight A roads/motorways, where cruise control is advantageous. I think I read somewhere in the handbook that this was the preferred method too.

yes
(off-topic and wise-ass-mode)

A question with  or  in it, cannot be answered with a simple yes  (or no)

Example:

Q: Shall we go to the zoo or do you prefer to stay at home?
A: Yes

(wise-ass-mode off)  ;D

back on topic:

Like Nicksey (and others) I prefer B-mode in town and D for motorways or A roads because it allows cruise control.

I just leave mine in D mode - no logic just like the taking foot off throttle and slowing gradually. You get sufficient slowing down when it switches to EV mode at such times for upcoming speed limit changes into 30 or 40 zones . I just prefer to use the brake pedal as needed rather than throttle .

B all the time as I find the acc in D mode too aggressive on acceleration and when it brakes if you can’t change lanes due to traffic on motorways.

I find D mode the closest to a 'normal' car . When driving any car for the first time you need to adjust slightly to its different power and throttle response etc. If anything I find  B mode needs even  more change in driving technique to adjust to greater engine braking and less use of the brakes.

If you find throttle response too aggressive  you can suppress it a bit by using Econ mode.

Are you sure its not ACC , Adaptive cruise control ,that you dislike?    This can cause the car to reduce speed or speed up  when you might not expect  it. As you become more familiar with it you adjust to the need to supervise it and take over manual control of your speed at times.     You can still use D mode with ACC off.

If you are concerned about best economy B round town (giving much better regen = better consumption & saving brake wear) in stop start and D extra urban as above.
