Title: Punctures and breakdown organisations
Post by: edam on December 17, 2019, 05:34:35 PM
I was unfortunate to puncture the side wall of my nearside front tyre whilst parking outside my home
I belong to a breakdown organisation but they wanted to load the  car onto the recovery truck and take it to a tyre dealer of my choice.
Are there other breakdown organisations which do things differently ?

I had the same experience with the AA but, if the damage can't be repaired, I don't know what else you can expect.

Could you get a spare tyre from eBay so it's there in an emergency?

After doing some research I have found that 2 major breakdown organisations fit a universal spare wheel to allow you to get to a garage  Unfortunately the organisation I use just wants to load you up onto a recovery truck

Yesterday my neighbour had a puncture on her 3 month old Golf. VW sent out a mobile tyre fitter which seemed like a sensible solution.
