Have just ordered a Proscam OBD scanner via E-bay.
Is it permissible to leave it permanently connected to the OBD port?
As far as I can tell, that port is wired in at all times so it may drain your battery. However car electronics are fairly new to me so maybe someone with more expertise can confirm.
There is power on OBD port all the time, you can get adaptors to plug a solar panel in to keep battery charged when parked. The cigarette lighter ( now renamed 'power outlet' IIRC ) on Honda only connected to battery when ignition key in aux 1 or higher, not sure about models with keyless entry etc. but would surmise that cigarette / power socket only live at the earliest when car senses fob and opens doors.
