Very low annual mileage this year

Have  not used Mk3 Ex  very much this year last mot mileage 14133 present mileage 15979
Total mileage 1846.
My question is should I have a service or would it be unwise to skip it
Used  once or twice a week for shopping etc
Use a solar panel all the time to. Maintain battery have never had any problems starting etc
In a quandary so any advice would be appreciated

I was not doing much more in the way of mileage, just under 3K. My plan was to forego the service and just change the oil. With the exception of oil everything else is mileage related. I expect to do the same with the Skoda. The dealer replaced the oil and filter (the oil was spotless when I checked) and I will just change the oil in a year's time.

Thanks Jocko  what I also forgot to mention was the cvt fluid   Change interval this has coincided with this  service 
But the last years mileage is very much a mirror image of this years not sure what to do really.

Your  advice would be appreciated please.

When I had my Civic, Crown Honda Bushey used to omit certain things, discussed at the service desk, as mentioned above, some things just didn't need doing as I only do a couple of thousand a year as well.

If you skip a service try claiming on the Honda warranty if something should go wrong.

I would get a basic service done - oil & filter and a bucket of looking at.
Also if the CVT fluid is based on total mileage and you have reached it then get that done together with any mileage/age related items.

Skipping it could be false economy in the long run.

I believe you are more or at least just as likely to require oil, auto and brake fluid changes with low mileage as you are with high.

I am not advocating skipping services but if it says change spark plugs every 62,500 miles then you do it then, whether that takes 2 years or 10 years.
The only thing in the service book for my Jazz guided on time is the oil and filter (every 12 months or 6 months in severe conditions) and the coolant (every 5 years).
Everything else is on mileage; if you are not doing the miles, that could be lengthy.

Then treat the oil and filter as "Severe" but plugs and other service items are treated quite gently on short journeys.

I have to ask, with the current costs of motoring, ie depreciation, tax, insurance and fuel, plus apparently issues with battery maintenance, would it not be cheaper to use a taxi, for those short journeys?

In my case the reason why I have a Jazz is to load it up with fishing gear and as I have only been fishing a local water it has not had much mileage.
My car is due for a service so I too have the same decision to make. Its passed its MOT with no problems so i might just get a oil change

We drive a 2003 Yaris which averages 1,000 miles pa.
Oil and filter change every two years since 2015. Engine still runs as new/  BUT Use synthetic rather than original spec semi synthetic

Jazz with 5k miles pa: oil and filter change every year. After 10 years, still runs as new.

When the Jazz died we considered doing without another car but it is not really practicable. I have a quarter-mile walk to the bus stop and cannot manage half that distance. A taxi into the city would cost an arm and a leg and my wife has regular hospital appointments just off the city centre. We use the car two or three times a week for short journeys for shopping so you are talking four or six taxis a week. Occasionally I have 180 miles in a day but over the year the mileage is less than 3K. A car is just a necessary convenience. The fact you can just pick up the keys and go means a lot.
