0% finance offer from Honda
« on: February 03, 2016, 08:48:34 PM »
I have had a letter from my local Honda dealer offering 0% finance over 2 years, with 50% deposit on a Jazz. I just thought I would mention it in case someone else is looking at buying one and looking at finance options.

I'm sticking with mine a bit longer !

I am sorry that i say this, but 0% finance doesn't exist.
Be careful and read good.

Surprisingly enough,it does in the UK where most  (more than 70%) cars are sold on finance and some sellers are desperate.

I had an email from Honda about this same thing as well so it probably does exist

before the finance takes place they charge commission and than they charge 0% for the finance, if you add everything than you will have the same.

We had a couple of late 90's Civics on 0%, it was the only deal going in those days.
Checked it out in Excel and it was better, probably as savings interest rates were much better then, although there were potential sneaky charges such as 'final documentation fee'.

UK credit agreements have to disclose commission, and I would not expect a manufacturer led 0% offer to be directly beneficial to the sales staff unlike HP, PCP etc.

One benefit/flaw may be 'lemon protection' as the credit firm owns the car for the term.

When out in California last year I saw the Fit EV was on $199 36 month lease, gets even better if you've got solar to charge it.
($199 a month; no down payment and unlimited mileage, routine maintenance and collision coverage included)

our local dealership emailed 2 weeks ago saying they had fantastic offers from honda
i rang and all they where offering was £750 off the cost of a new jazz
i laughed at the offer ,i wouldnt waste my time for that little off a car.
offers are always in favour of the dealer ,you get nothing for nothing

UK credit agreements have to disclose commission,

I'm sure that's not correct.  And we have two cars, including a Jazz, acquired on PCP.
