When stopped switch on the electric parking brake which kills the brake lights, pressing the accelerator disengages the parking brake.

I'll only take my foot off the brake pedal when there's a vehicle stopped behind me. Otherwise some less attentive driver coming up behind might not notice that my vehicle is stationary.

Noticed today that if you use Brake Hold and stop the brake lights stay on. When somebody comes up behind, activating the parking brake switches them off.

Another display question... Im occasionally getting a little house at the bottom of the screen. Can't see what it means.

According to the manual that is the "Home" button. You press it then roll the left selector wheel to scroll to the content you want to see. Page 140 of the manual.

The house icon is indicating that the Home button on the steering will has a function on this screen.

If you change the warning message setting in the Vehicle settings > meter setup to ON, it will give informative text for menu items like that.
