A few days ago, whilst driving, the driver interface displayed a representation of the rear of the car with "working " brake lights. Whilst waiting at traffic lights I was able to see that brake hold keeps the lights on, whilst the parking break doesn't if taking your foot off the brake pedal.
I have not been able to find the display since. Anybody know how to find it?

I've not had this appear on my Crosstar nor have I seen any mention in the handbook. Perhaps it's an Easter Egg embedded in the software or part of a set of undocumented (for users) features for service technicians to use.
You mention using the parking brake instead of brake hold. Do you mean putting the gear shift into P or pulling up the electrical parking brake switch or both?
-
Just pulling up the electric brake then taking my foot off the brake pedal. I think it was in B drive.
I need to visit the dealer in the next few days, so will ask the service manager.

Thanks. It's useful to know that using the parking brake switch causes the brake lights to behave differently compared to using the brake hold. That said, I often keep my right foot on the brake pedal as I'm worried that an unintended touch of the accelerator by a foot looking for somewhere to rest will get the vehicle moving.

My HR-V operates exactly the same.

My HR-V operates exactly the same.
However, in my experience with the HR-V it is necessary to keep foot on footbrake to get the engine auto-stop to activate.

That was true on the pre-2019 face lift models but with mine you can take your foot off the footbrake.

No auto stop anymore. The engine isn't providing the propulsion.

More a case of the engine (once warmed up) on the Mk. 4 Jazz shouldn't be running unless the power is needed although we may find when winter arrives that it stays on to provide heating.

Finally managed to display it again. With the Driver Information Interface set to Simple (the 0.0) and the ACC on ( you don't have to be in any of the three modes). The icon representing the rear of the car is displayed. It displays the operation of brake lights, indicators and headlights. Not sure of its purpose but it does show the brake lights operating under ACC braking. Hope this makes sense, finding it hard to describe.

Controversial ...
What was wrong with the tried and trusted handbrake !
When I stop at lights and junctions I hate vehicles in front with permanent brake lights blinding me in the dark. I apply the handbrake on mine and no brake lights.

So do I.

So do I, but brake lights on the car in front don't bother me, even with my cataract.

I'll only take my foot off the brake pedal when there's a vehicle stopped behind me. Otherwise some less attentive driver coming up behind might not notice that my vehicle is stationary.

When stopped switch on the electric parking brake which kills the brake lights, pressing the accelerator disengages the parking brake.

Noticed today that if you use Brake Hold and stop the brake lights stay on. When somebody comes up behind, activating the parking brake switches them off.

Another display question... Im occasionally getting a little house at the bottom of the screen. Can't see what it means.
-
According to the manual that is the "Home" button. You press it then roll the left selector wheel to scroll to the content you want to see. Page 140 of the manual.
-
The house icon is indicating that the Home button on the steering will has a function on this screen.
If you change the warning message setting in the Vehicle settings > meter setup to ON, it will give informative text for menu items like that.
