Just watched it, thanks for the link. On the Capuccino ..........
Nearly everything he said is pretty accurate. Second gear was always notchy from new, the gearbox needs carefully chosen oil to minimise this. It's no worse than some mainstream other cars I've driven, you just don't rush it into second and it's fine.
Rot, yes. Mine has lived in a garage from new and never used in winter so has no rust, pretty rare.
I'd say the tyres on that example aren't appropriate for the car. It originally came with Bridgestones which were very stiff and it handled like a go-kart, but they were awful in the wet and very hard ride. I put Michelins on mine and while it lost a touch of the instant response they were infinitely more refined and comfortable and reduced scuttle shake to a tolerable level. There are things you can do to improve scuttle shake on them .................
Mechanically they are pretty durable. Rear brakes are a bit like the early Jazz, need maintenance to avoid issues. They are a sliding caliper design, but the whole caliper moves on big diameter pins and they must be maintained and greased. The rear discs are as far as I know unique to the Capp (fronts are common with other models).
They are not an everyday car, they won't stand up to it bodily, but as a sunny day toy .......
