I'm thinking I need a dashcam. Is there a good quality system that also has wireless connection to a rear camera so I do not need to run an internal data cable? Local power to the rear camera shouldn't be too tricky.
I just use two separate dashcams. I have a Viofo A119 V3 looking forward and my old Nextbase 512G looking back.

Me to  I have done so for at least the last 5 years and no worries so far,
now I’ve done  it something will go wrong Sod’s Law.

The only time you really need a registration plate is in a hit-and-run. Much more common in the US than in the UK. Leave the audio on in your dashcam and shout out the registration number as seen using the Mk 1 eyeball.

Covered by the airbag?

Dashcams are useless at capturing reg plates at night. The plates, being highly reflective, are just a white rectangle under your headlights. During the day my Viofo captures them quite well.

As Jocko said, a lot leave the mic on so they can make verbal notes.
Let's be careful out there !
