Router connection
« on: September 08, 2021, 05:13:40 AM »
As part of setting up the headunit I've connected it to my easily in range router.

From what I can tell it's not actually doing anything and maybe it's only used by MyHonda+ ?

If so I may as well cancel this Wifi link ?
Let's be careful out there !

I have mine connected to WiFi as well - I think it’s just used if there is a system update.

The telematics can also download updates, but I assume much slower than broadband.

Once a month the car will check for system updates, and then tell you if there is one available to download or install.

You can also manually check for an update when connected to WiFi- mine shows a message saying it’s up to date at the moment.

Is there a Honda website where the recent software / maps can be manually downloaded, put on a USB and then installed in the car. All the German manufacturers offer this as well as Jaguar Land Rover

For the built in sat nav, the new maps can only be downloaded on a pc and then installed in the car using a usb stick. There is a Garmin app you have to install on the pc.

It’s quite a complicated procedure - you have to connect a blank stick to the car first to have the serial number installed. Then take the stick to pc to download the map, then back to the car within 24 hours to install it!

Despite buying my car new from the dealer, I was surprised that there was a map update available when I checked. It didn’t take too long to install, maybe 20 minutes.

Other audio system updates will come either via a connected telematics system, vehicle connected wifi or via USB from the USB website https://usb.honda.com/

Yes, thanks.

I've got 2 x USB sticks setup for Nav and System updates.

Both tried and, as expected, I'm up to date on both.

I think they've put the WiFi link there so that new apps can be downloaded from the Honda app centre when they become available but there aren't any at present as far as I can see

My router Wifi connection deleted.

I'll watch the posts here re MyHonda+ and maybe have it activated at my first service.

Some of you mention 'PC'. Can it also be done on MAC?
