If you get 10 replies there'll be 15 recommendations!!  ;)

Personally in my Jazz I use Honda's "own brand" oil (whoever the manufacturer happens to be), though I'd be happy with the Castrol Edge "H" 0W20 (Honda version), and genuine Honda filters. I've had stuff from https://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/ in the past, but also very recently had some service stuff from the Perthhonda shop on fleabay at rather better prices once p&p is included. Both supply genuine Honda stuff and are very quick on delivery (satisfied cistomer).

So far, my car has enjoyed Castrol Magnatec 5w30 when it was on discount at Halfords.

On the last change it was treated to some Comma Xtech 5w30. It will probably getting this oil again at the next change which will be happening shortly. Car runs as well as ever on the stuff.

Re filters, I put a Mann filter on it from GSF and a new sump washer.

Prices are on the way up though. Oil, filter and washer were £28.06 in 12/2021, today the oil and filter alone are £37.57!! Massve increase. Best be shopping around soon then.  ;)

I have used:

ALWAYS Honda oil filter  (cheap from http://www.tegiwaimports.com/select-car/honda/jazz.html)

Castrol 0w-20
Castrol 5W -30
Petronas 0w-20,5w-30
Fuchs 0w-20

As and when which is cheapest.

No noticeable change in anything - noise, oil consumption (nil), mpg
Not worth worrying about.

Key issue change every 12 months or 8k miles, always change the blue Honda oil filter at same time. We have used Castrol oil in our Honda Jazz since 2002

I buy a large drum of Smith and Allen full synthetic 5/30. I've used this for several years in in various cars belonging to my family. We gave our old Jazz to my son it's 12 years old and done in excess of 80,000 miles on this stuff. It also goes in my wifes Yaris, daughters Mini and her husbands Hyundai Tucson. I tend to use Mahle or Bosch oil filters. I also ran my previous BMW 320D on this (replaced by my current Jazz) That's still going with over 100,000miles on the clock.

Engine oil has a shelf life of 5 years so I tend to buy it when I need it.

Strange, considering it sits in the ground for millions of years.

I go through at least one 20 litre drum every year, depends on how many cars I do. I do the same with motorcycle oil, buy in bulk, do my two bikes and a couple belonging to mates.

But not in its refined state.

I found a 5 litre can of engine  oil that had been lurking in a shed for years.    It was like creamy toffee.
Its now helping with the preservation of the shed timbers.  Waste not want not .

Jazzeteers! Blimey! Eggzellent! Use viscosity (0-20 covers everything, can use 10-40 as long you no live in Siberia steppes) as Hoondah says, do NOT juggle around with that. Use spec. approved as Hoondah says. i.e. ACEA A3/B3 or ACEA A5/B5 approved. After the ACEA approved txt on the container states right, feel free to knock yourself out wit any "brand". The iVVT is very needy to regular oilchanges and correct oil.

No it wasnt. Very old 20W50 mineral oil.    I do have a litre or two of semi synthetic thats at least 10 years old    that I use as chain oil in a chainsaw.  Still looks ok and good enough for that job.

I've just bought the Jazz, it was last serviced in Jan 2022, but has done less than 500 miles since then.

I'm planning to change the oil about every 9 months, just bought a 20L tub of Valvoline fully synthetic, A5/B5 0W-30, for £85 delivered, so ~£17 an oil change, which is very reasonable and well within spec.
