Exactly how loud is the Jazz 1.5 Sport?
« on: March 12, 2020, 07:09:58 PM »
Hi,
I'm currently considering options to replace my Fabia Mk2 Estate and I want to stick with a narrow car in a world of ever wider cars. The Honda Jazz Sport is a possibility but I've read reviews complaining about the engine noise, particularly at motorway speeds (although other, positive reviews have hardly mentioned the noise). We have a Jazz Mk1 as our second car and the high-revving engine is way louder than our Skoda.

So, how loud is the 1.5 Jazz Sport, particularly at motorway speeds? Bearable for occasional motorway journeys?
Thanks

Jocko

Welcome. I have a Mk 1 Jazz with a DSi engine and it is not the engine that is noisy. Tyre noise can be an issue but the engine is extremely quiet, even at 70 mph.

I have had my Jazz Sport for almost two years now. The engine is not the quietest I have owned, but I have also owned diesels and they were louder still. The engine is very low geared and changing up through the gears quickly helps a lot
I guess you would have to test drive one, preferably a longer one. I don’t notice it now, I have got used to it I suppose. Not a problem for me, but these things are subjective and you would have to make up your own mind. I would have another: if only they still made them!.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'll have to take one for a test drive. I admit I've not previously been keen on Jazzes but the Mk3 looks good, and having a bit of poke turns it into something interesting.
