So far, I've got no regrets. The flexible internal space is very useful. The sliding rear seats are better for my needs than the Jazz's "magic seats" although smaller dimensions mean there's less capacity than the Jazz. I'm currently getting better than 5 miles/kWh under the same driving conditions which would get better than 70mpg in the Mk 4 Jazz. Winter will be worse but the data at https://www.naf.no/elbil/elprix-nytt/elprix-vinter-2026 (much colder conditions than I'll never drive in) suggest the Inster suffers a smaller cold weather hit than many EVs. The Inster has flaps under the front bumper which only open to let cooling air in when it's needed (something the Jazz would benefit from having).
There's a volume control for all the safety alert noises and I have that set to be audible but not annoying. The RDMS equivalent is much less intrusive and doesn't get excited when I cross a white line in the middle of the road, perhaps because the infra-red face-tracking camera knows that I'm alive and looking forwards. I've felt a slight turn of the steering wheel when getting close to the edge of the road but it's not an aggressive tug.
I understand that Hyundai issued a software update to address the ICCU problem. The car is extremely cheap to run when charged at home (I'm on Octopus Go) and if I can find chargers away from home that are no more than 50p/kWh then that's no more expensive than petrol at £1.60/litre. I'll miss the excellent range of the Jazz on a full tank but don't reckon on driving more than 200 miles/day. Charging opportunities now feature in journey planning, ideally at places we would visit as breaking in the journey.

« Last post by CRC on September 14, 2026, 02:04:15 PM »Our 2003 Jazz came with the original stereo / CD player, which always looked like it would be a big problem to update with anything more modern given the very curved and specific mounting of the unit in the dash.
A couple of years ago, I took it out to repair the common voltage regulator fault, and while it was out, I fitted a small, dedicated Bluetooth circuit board to the AUX input and as this neatly fits inside the stereo space, there are no trailing wires to get everywhere, and that neatly ticked the Bluetooth box at very little cost.
To give ourselves a sat nav option, I bought a magnetic phone holder which firmly sticks to one of the few flat areas on the dash and now gives us a tidy place to attach the phone, and it really does work and almost looks "factory fitted".
I know that everyone has their own satnav favourites, but two of my favourites are the ones that use the Open Street Maps to work. Osmand is probably my favourite, but Organic Maps is well worth a look as you can download maps for the entire world to it freely.
It was created by one of the originators of Maps.Me and is lightweight, absolutely no ads, totally free and works completely offline.
I'm currently trying to work out how to mount a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 securely in place, and am considering a CD drive slot mounting attachments, but we don't really need it, to be honest as the phones work really well on the holder.

Washer nozzles are particularly vulnerable in winter when the anti freeze ingredient can evaporate through the nozzle jet , leaving plain water that forms a small ice plug. An occasional squirt refreshes the mix in the nozzle, minimising the problem , but maybe not entirely.
A similar problem can occur in summer in hard water areas where evaporation can clog the nozzle with limescale. Using rainwater can help - as long as its protected from algae growth.

It works fine, connects to the phone quite quickly.
Had to run a Aux cable to the radio.
The touch screen is a bit hit and miss.
Can stream music ok.
There are some apps on it.
Fitted the rear view camera, its black and white, it would be quite easy to upgrade this if you want to.
Will take a photo and post that later today.
For the £38 it is ridiculous value.
But we decided we wanted to keep the CD player.
