Title: changing Honda
Post by: Roddy0000 on July 27, 2021, 10:29:42 PM
Hi, looking at changing the jazz to a HR-V or CR range. Can I ask for recommendations as to the model/year and how reliable the automatic box is please as I understand that the build on some were not very good. ty

I had no issues with the CVT box in nearly 5 years of HR-V ownership. Problems of CVT judder which appeared on the Mk 1 Jazz after some years have been eliminated by Honda shortening the fluid change interval.

HR-Vs sold in UK up to about 2018 were assembled in Mexico (VIN starting 3HG) and there have been issues with both build quality and some components (eg splitting air hoses) that are probably sourced in America although the basic engine and gearbox units are fine as they are built elsewhere.  Later HR-Vs sold in UK were assembled in Japan (VIN starting J).

I'd also consider the new one if hurry to change is no reason.

In Japan the new e HRV tops out at £22k this won't even be the starting price in UK.

The pricing is here https://hondanews.eu/gb/en/cars/media/pressreleases/340955/honda-confirms-pricing-for-all-new-hr-v-ehev and the order book is open. I'm not planning to join the queue as the HR-V has got bigger in size (as well as price).
