Car theft payouts at seven year high.
« on: May 28, 2019, 09:23:00 AM »
The Association of British Insurers said claims for January to March were higher than for any quarter since 2012.
It said a rise in keyless car crime was partly to blame, but did not have figures on what proportion of claims were for keyless vehicles.
I realise that as the value of vehicles and things stolen from vehicles increases, then even the same level of theft as previously will have an increase in cost, but unfortunately motor vehicle theft in on the increase, particularly high value vehicles. It is no longer the Ford Escort getting nicked, driven to death, then being burnt out in a field. It is the Range Rover, BMW or Mercedes, stolen from the drive, and stripped for spares or shipped overseas.
