Jerking at 2500 rpm - not egr or plugs ?
« on: April 04, 2019, 10:21:07 PM »
Hi Jazz friends, long time reader and first time poster here.

My 2007 1.4 cvt judders when accelerating around approx 2500rpm. Only when warm and only at low speeds. No warning lights.

I’ve read the threads on here which mostly point to egr, plugs and coils. Tried v power which helped a bit. I’ve cleaned the egr and changed 5 of the plugs (too dark to change the other 3 rear ones now this eve !). Rev needle doesn’t jump around but car does still jerk. I’ll try again tomorrow with other plugs but the problem seems to remain so far...

Next thing is to remove the coils one at a time and drive around see if a cool is the issue. Is this safe ?

Also - I found the rubber washer in my spark plug socket was too far recessed in the socket to engage with the plug. Anyone else had this issue ? I guess I could try getting a different spark plug socket.

Many thanks for any input which would be greatly appreciated.

So you found the 'secret spark plugs' - most garages can't find them and too many owners don't know they are there - well done..
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

The issue was that I didn’t think it was the spark plugs,  as I had replaced all of them about 22,500 miles ago ie before hondas recommended interval of 25,000.

I wonder if particular driving patterns make them wear out quicker?

Apparently, short journeys foul the plugs which probably explains why they didn’t last too long in my case.
