The mysterious case of the missing yellow lines
«

We have the MK 3 EX Navi with reversing camera. Today when selecting reverse the yellow guide lines that appear on the camera image are not there. I checked the settings and they are enabled. So I turned them off and back on. Switched the car off and on again and they came back. But next time I select reverse they have gone again.
Anyone else have this?
I am not sure what version of software it is but we have not updated it since new so probably about a year old.
Another "feature" ?

Hi Paul, what you have is one of the connect system failures- see threads on infotainment system.
My civic did the same occasionally, the software update is supposed to fix/ improve this problem, so you will need a trip to the dealer.

so you will need a trip to the dealer.
Or a trip to 'the dark side' and do it yourself. Took me about half an hour and that was mainly because the instructions were a little vague.

This happened again today so I will post the answer so I know where to find it next time.
Press and hold the power on for more than 10 seconds to reboot the display.
Then when it asks for a password press the power on again for two seconds. There is no password.
This should get the lines back.

It is possible to switch these off and on through settings. You can also set them between dynamic (so they turn with the steering wheel) and static.
Edit: Sorry didn't read your original post correctly. I see you already know this

Note also that the Infotainment issue was resolved for me, finally, by upgrading the Appcentre. It's easy enough. Get the car connected by wifi then launch app centre, go into the settings and select update. Be aware that it takes several minutes.

Yep, upgrades help to solve this problem.
Another tip: do not start the engine with reverse gear in, and wait 5-10 seconds before shift into reverse.
