Mk3 CVT oil change
« on: October 03, 2017, 09:42:06 AM »
Hi. I had the 25000 mile service done the other day but the Honda Service Franchise was unable to replace the CVT oil, as required at 25000 miles,  as it was not available from Honda and no supply date was available. I have been advised to carry on as normal and it will be done when the oil is available.  Can anyone throw any light on this please. Thanks. JEB.

Does this mean that Honda no longer use CVT-F oil in Mk3 CVT boxes? I would have thought that the gearbox and torque converter were carried over from the Mk2.

I would imaging that even if they had changed the oil for the Mk3 they still would continue to stock it. After all. how many Mk1s and 2s are they still servicing. They wanted to service my car a fortnight back.

Well seeing as l am a  reasonably low mileage driver they decided that the oil change was not necessary, they did change the pollen filter and updated the infotainment software (fingers crossed).

Mine went in for its 2 year service and the CVT fluid was not changed because of the low mileage as well.

When my Jazz was two years old and was due the CVT oil change my local dealer tried to tell me the same, I had paid for a five year service plan and insisted it was done, I pointed out that it was dependant on age and not mileage otherwise if I ever had a problem with the CVT I would be contacting Honda as they had not kept to the specified Honda service schedule.

Hi . Here is an update.  On 10/10/17 Honda customer services admitted to a supply problem with the specific type 2 CVT oil required by the MK3 at the 25,000 mile service. They are working to resolve the problem. My dealer has had some delivered and I have a CVT oil change  organised for 13/10/17.  So it all ends well.  JEB

My SE, had it's 2yr service, last March. At approx, 6,000 miles.

Afterwards. I asked about the low mileage/ oilchange necessity.

"Honda specify the work. If the box is ticked, it has been carried out".

The appropriate box, is ticked. Good enough for me!  ;)
