Trading up.
« on: June 19, 2017, 03:15:38 PM »
I really love the Jazz I have, but after an 80 mile trip, on the hottest day this year so far, with a double coat cat in her box for company, I am going to have to have to look for a car with Air Conditioning. After years with Air Con I didn't realise just how much I'd miss it. I opened the windows when possible, but on a busy motorway it is either suffer the heat or suffocate with exhaust fumes!
I'll have to see what Auto Trader  and Gumtree have around here.

Hi

I have a Jazz S +AC so obviously the air con was a selling feature add on as an addition to the Jazz S

That has always been the ploy of motor manufacturers. Offer a very basic car, then the option of choosing your upgrades. I remember a friend of my father's buying a brand new Ford Zephyr Zodiac Mk 1, back in the early 50's, and among the optional extras was a  radio, a heater and a spare wheel and jack!

And they still do it. Always beware of the "From £xxx" line. Same with holidays.

Have you assessed the time/cost of installing a/c from a breaker?

Never even considered it. I no longer do my own work on my cars (parted with my tools many years ago) and my son-in-law is too busy with his golf and paying "homers" to waste time his time on my car. There was a time I would have been happy to consider such a job but sadly, no more.

My jazz is the first car I have owned with air con. Couldn't do without it now.
