Worth having mud guards?
« on: April 19, 2017, 07:18:12 AM »
Do they do anything to protect the car?
Any disadvantages?

They enhance the look of the car on I think when I've seen them.

I'm thinking of buying front and rear.

I've seen £52 per pair genuine. Is this a reasonable price? Anyone recommend where to buy them from?

Thanks.

Lots of varying thoughts on this forum, personal I like them, I do think they help protect the body work and help to cut down on spray.
Try Cox motors they sell genuine Honda parts usually at a discounted price.

I think mudguards are worth fitting,  you have to be more careful reversing up to kerbs though because if mudguard hits kerb and gets pushed onto tyre it can put a strain on mounting screws etc. also in winter (if it snows) the snow tends to pack up between wheels and mudguards (especially front wheel) - but looking at last run of winters snow was not on the agenda anyway.

A lot of broken windscreens may be down to lack of mudguards on other vehicles,  allowing stones to kick up higher.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

The lower sides of the car contain lesser dirt with mud guards and yes i think they look good. I installed them last year, a few months after we bought our Jazz. I paid about € 66 for our genuine ones.

When this is for front and rear together it is good price for the genuine ones. If it's only for the front (or rear) pair i have seen a better price in the UK.

I am on my fifth Jazz and all had rear mudflaps except the current one.

Spray on the rear window is definitely worse without the rear flaps.
