Battery drain on 2015 1.3 CVT Jazz
« on: January 23, 2022, 12:10:01 PM »
Hello everyone, my first post...!

I have entered the world of Honda Jazz's and my first attempt at mechanics. My battery in my 2015 Jazz MK3 keeps draining whilst off, charges fine and retains charge when disconnected. The battery runs at 600ma when connected and engine is off, so a parasitic drain somewhere.

I isolated the issue by using a multi meter and disconnecting the fuses one by one. The 2 fuses that are causing the issue are listed in the manual both as Capacitor or DC/DC converter (depending on model). The fuse ratings match that for DC/DC converter and I can't for the life of me find out what this actually is....any insights would be greatly appreciated...? Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, I can't find it if it has. Thanks in advance

Welcome. I cannot help much but can I suggest you switch on, then pull the fuse to see what stops working?

On earlier Jazz models the favs for draining juice are the boot light, interior light and then the overhead map lights either sticking or being bumped on when exiting the vehicle.
No doubt other members with modern models will be able to help further.

I had this issue,

It was thought to be the aircon relay sticking on,

The dealer I got it from swopped batteries, relay etc.,

Never really sorted it,

Thanks everyone.

Been out there all day messing around with fuses. The 2 in question seem to run a lot of things, the radio, USB power and door locks plus few other bits but removing interior fuses didn't change anything and now I'm getting an even higher mA reading when connected  :o

My gut is saying it's the radio but it's way way way above my knowledge now so I'll call an auto electrician and will update what they tell me

A DC/DC converter is a power supply to take the 12vdc from car power supply and change to either a lower ( say 5volts ) or higher voltage,  I find it strange that this would be 'live' when ignition is turned off though. One use of a DC/DC convertor on a hybrid would be to charge the 12 battery from the HV battery.  But on a non-hybrid or EV car ? ? ?  There is a stabilised 10vdc supply on instruments...

here is a manual

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot
