Cheaper to change your name to match the registration of your car.

Good idea. In my case Donald Duck will do nicely ;D (last 3 letters are DDN)

In California, any series of seven letters can be used (as long as no one has them already). A couple I knew have LIZ N LES. One car I saw had BALLOCK. Obviously an ex-pat.

A few years ago in Austria  a new number plate system allowed the the region  indicator (eg' I' for Innsbruck) followed by almost any name you wanted. My friend Rudi was too late  to get I Rudi.   But you will see lots of cars with names or , I Audi ,I BMW  etc.
The number plate is actually identified to the owner not the car.  They can use the same number on two different cars  - eg a summer car and a winter car .If one is laid up in the off season. It used to be quite common to have a nice car for the summer and an old wreck/4x4 for winter.

I wouldn't have thought J0CKO would be a valid UK numberplate.

Saw a Honda today with "OAP"   .The prefix predated the car  so must be a private plate. Either proud of his honourable status  , or his name is something like Oscar Alan Parker  ;D

The sort that always make me sigh, are those that relate to the car. Such as 'V70' plate on a Volvo or 'X5' on their BMW. I mean, what are they thinking? The motor already has a badge......

On the flip side though, a local bus company has 'BUS' plates on some of their fleet which always makes me smile. https://www.coachservicesltd.co.uk/fleet-list
