Unfortunately big(?) companies prefer to invest in call centers with clear orders to wheedle off any warranty claims rather than customer service (and then wonder, why longtime customers wander off...
In the UK at least its more than just being dealt with by a call centre. The whole warranty ,Honda care, servicing package ,procedure is managed by an independent ''Business solutions' company who are specialists in car warranties.
Honda, and several other major car manufacturers ,use these companies to administer their warranty schemes. It saves them having to employ their own staff. The staff are experts at refusing claims They will use correspondence claiming to be Honda and the same member of staff may answer one phone call as 'Honda' and the next as ,for instance, Ford. Their business success and reputation is within the warranty business solution industry and depends on how much money they can save their clients - Honda. They care little about how their decisions may damage Hondas own reputation with its customers..
In theory Honda take overall control of disputes but its quite difficult to get beyond the initial guard dogs and have it considered by Honda themselves. And Honda Europe have ,IMO , preferred to save Honda Japan as much money as possible on dwindling European sales, rather than increase sales by improving customer care.

I've got the exact same problem and couldn't check with Honda dealer.
It's a 2021 Jazz e-hev. Always in 0w20. ATF fluid done by Honda at 4 year/40000kms.

I wonder if Honda UK has had a change of mind about the condensers as there's no talk of "a goodwill gesture" but it's definitely an extended warranty now.
One of the service engineers at our local Honda dealer told me unofficially that this problem has been covered by extended warranty in some countries for some time - notably Canada - but it took longer for Honda UK to agree to it. Each application is still judged by Honda UK on a case by case basis.

What were the symptoms before the faulty ac condenser diagnosis? No cold air?
Exactly that, although there was a gradual decline in cooling output over some months - presumably as the gas slowly leaked out.

As I'm living in eastern Switzerland with quite heavily salted roads during winter, I frequently "Kärcher" the underbelly of my car(s) to get rid of the salt - you have yet to show me a car that started to rust through on the roof ("Lancia Sud" officially excluded!).
As for regular car washes: I was complimented on my previous car's paint coat condition (after six years of similar "negligence") - so, go figure.

I'm well aware of the known issue with condensers on some early models and phoned the garage number which puts me through to the call-centre. Oh dear. Not helpful...I'm very glad to hear that Honda (UK) finally came around free of charge for you for this well known issue!

« Last post by coldstart on July 19, 2026, 05:04:15 PM »I've noticed no improvement in MPG by using ecomode but some degradation in performance. After 36000 miles my consumption is a constant 62mpg all year roundGood for you!
(hopefully you did this by logging gallons filled vs miles travelled (as I do on spritmonitor.de) because the car's "fibometer" tends to be on the "generous" side!
The final check certainly is your wallet! (you can't cheat that, can you?)
