acceleration hesitation while warming up
« on: February 01, 2023, 09:50:14 PM »
Our 2007 40K mile Jazz is experiencing loss of power occasionally shortly after starting off - usually when the cyan Low Temperature Indicator is still on.  I haven't experienced it but my partner says she has had to floor it without much result when pulling out at a junction about 3 times in a month.

No error codes or EML light.  Idling seems OK.  I intend to blank the EGR anyway but I don't think that is the problem.  I carefully changed the plugs recently but that was after this symptom.  The significant change  before the symptom was me changing the upstream O2 sensor.  The old one wasn't working according to OBD2 and the new one passes the OBD2 tests.

Here are my guesses, please add/correct any:
a) The duff O2 sensor was causing excess fuel to flow which was masking it and all Jazz's behave like this with a working O2 sensor? (Don't think this happened before the cat burglary, with the original O2 sensor  though)
b) The car has not yet fully re-programmed itself to receiving correct O2 signals?
c) the new O2 sensor is working but not correctly?
d) MAF sensor needs cleaning?
e) EGR valve sticking?
f) SWMBO error?

Yes i do give that one the highest probability :D.  Until I get to experience the problem... :(   Even then it will have to be me driving, not just as a passenger.

I am amazed how many results I got on this forum for the word 'hesitation'.  Seems to be a common problem across all models. I found 4 new possible causes to add

g) Throttle body needs cleaning
h) The Bosch throttle wiring issue
i) CVT clutch needs re-calibrating
j) Alternator/battery fault

Finally got some codes, 7 in fact:

P001C "A" Camshaft Profile Control Circuit High,
Vehicle Area: Powertrain
Area of Vehicle System: Fuel and Air Metering

B2218 No Description,
Vehicle Area: Body
Area of Vehicle System: Body Systems

P0010 "A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit/Open,
Vehicle Area Powertrain
Area of Vehicle System: Fuel and Air Metering

P00EC No Description,
Vehicle Area: Powertrain
Area of Vehicle System: Fuel and Air Metering

P00B6 Radiator Coolant Temperature/Engine Coolant Temperature Correlation,
Vehicle Area: Powertrain
Area of Vehicle System: Fuel and Air Metering

P00E3 No Description,
Vehicle Area: Powertrain
Area of Vehicle System: Fuel and Air Metering

P2F61 No Description
Vehicle Area: Powertrain

I have cleared all the codes and have since cleaned and blanked off the EGR anyway though it was quite clean and I don't think it was the problem.

Given the codes I think I will clean the MAF sensor next.

The symptons remain a SWMBO only experience but at least I have codes now.

P0010 seems to be related to valve timing control but I thought our Jazz doesn't have variable valve timing??It's a 1.4GDSI engine.
