Starting to enjoy my Mk 3
« on: July 24, 2022, 07:34:27 PM »
Well....had the Jazz for 10 weeks now and must say in the beginning,I just couldnt get to grips with the 6 speed box(mainly the low 1st gear).
As time has gone on,im now really starting to enjoy the new(to me) car experience.
Im now using minimal 1st gear to get the wheels rolling and most of the time, keeping my eyes on the recommended green arrows to change gear.
I never thrash my cars and try to treat them with respect.
We recently had a gentle run from Bristol to Torquay and back and according to computer, returned 61.1 mpg.
I suppose the actual figure may be around 55mpg,but still very happy.
Still dont like not being able to turn off the auto lights when not needed, but overall very happy with it.

it was the low 6th gear that I couldn't get used to at first, in my previous car, a Golf TDi GT , 6th was only usable above 60.

My 2018 Sport 1.5 is a nice car but I do miss the torque and grunt of a diesel.

btw guys , I have just had the aircon condenser replaced , luckily under extended warranty , slight leak / crack where the pipe goes in on the right side. Easy to spot a leak , there will be PAG oil staining around it.

Get it out on the open road and give it's some revs in 3rd and let the VTEC do it's thing! Well over the speed limit in no time, you can surprise people what an old Jazz can do!

I gave up trying to get used to the manual gearbox with its stupid 6 gears and went back to a CVT

Pebbles.....I agree about the torque and grunt.
Before the Jazz we had a 16 reg. Hyundai Santa fe for 3 years for towing our caravan.
Lovely car but fuel consumption was terrible.

These engines begin to perform at higher rpms and they do like to be revved. Enjoy the fun between 3000 and redline!
