Anti-theft sticker
« on: May 20, 2022, 03:29:24 PM »
Hello,
do you know if there are any original Honda stickers that signal the presence of the alarm and the electronic lock to be placed on the side windows of the Jazz?
I don't think I've seen any, maybe only on older cars?
Thanks for the info.
(Sorry for the mistakes I used Google translate)

I haven't seen these for many years - you can buy stickers from eBay if you want, but all cars have alarms/immobilisers now so the stickers seem to have died out.

These sort of things die out. I remember the 50's and 60's when some cars sported 'automatic' on the rear.
Let's be careful out there !

Why we need this sticker ?
We have blinking red led in instrument panel when car locked.

"four wheel brakes '  signs  were common in the 1920's when many cars  only had brakes on their  rear wheels  .  Still popular with  vintage car enthusiasts as a bit of a joke.

I wanted to put the sticker just to highlight the presence of the alarm more,
but I wanted to put an original Honda sticker.
Thanks for the replies anyway.

I think you are giving car thieves too much credit.  Simple 'smash and grab' thieves will smash a window, grab a bag etc and run away, expecting  an alarm to go off anyway.  They wont look for stickers, or if they do they wont care much.

More sophisticated car thieves who are able steal the car itself  already know which security systems Honda fit. They wont be fooled by additional stickers.

If you are concerned the car may be stolen , buy a "Faraday" bag.  These stop your  keys transmitting  signals that can be detected by nearby criminals using special computer  equipment .They can  then clone' the signal to open and start your car.  They could detect these signals by standing just outside your home, hotel room, restaurant table etc.  The Jazz is not a favourite for these criminals, but you never know.
Here is an example. You may find something locally

Buying a Faraday bag and then fumbling with it: Faraday bag out of your pocket, key fob out, the bag back in your pocket, open the door and start.
On arrival open the door, double lock the door, put the key fob in the Faraday bag, bag in your pocket. You're safe. The key cannot be scanned and cloned.
You can also do it cheaper and differently, you don't have to buy anything. Check out page 169 here.

https://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/manuals-and-guides/honda-owners-manuals/_jcr_content/par1/textcolumnwithimagem_1653971839/textColumn/richtextdownload_90f/file.res/2021%20Jazz%20Owner%60s%20Manual.pdf

Here you can read how to turn off the key fob. Very simple by holding the two buttons at the same time for a few seconds. You turned off the radio wave reception. You're safe. The key cannot be scanned and cloned. More difficult than putting the fob in a bag? No. And does it take more time? No.
You saved the money for that Faraday bag and... you save the battery, which will last longer.
I've been doing it this way for over 5 years and it's become a regular habit.
