Catalytic converter heat shield.
« on: September 03, 2019, 04:34:29 PM »
  Hi All,
Been under my 2004 Jazz and noticed a rusthole on the bottom half of the heat shield on the catalytic converter.
I don't suppose it's an mot failure point, but I would like to put a new one on all the same. Have phoned a local Honda dealer and  they said they had one (it comes in two halves ) at £90  inc. vat. I think you can get a replacement cat on ebay for less than that, but there's nothing wrong with my cat so I wouldn't want to change it unnecessarily - I only need the heat shield.Anyone know where I could get a heat shield at a more reasonable price? Welcome. My cat didn't come with a new heat shield. The normal repair is a large washer with a small hole. Plenty threads here suggesting parts to buy.  My mechanic just cut a piece of tin plate and drilled a hole it it.

Thanks Jocko, maybe I'll try and cut a piece of metal and drill and screw it on to cover the hole.
