Permanent Live fuse in internal fuse box?
« on: December 19, 2020, 08:48:02 AM »
I want to hard wire my dash cam to the internal fuse box and I need a permanent live feed as well as a switched live. Can anyone tell me which one if any is permanently live please?

Separate from the main fuses there will be an 'option connector' socket. If you can find it that will have a permanent live, an IGN pos 1(acc) and an IGN pos 2 pin.

Hopefully @steve_m might spot this and point you in the right direction as the permanent live pin often requires one of the existing fusebox empty slots to be 'populated'

It sounds complicated but is worth pursuing as the option connector pins are not affected by the starter motor afaik, mine aren't.

Multimeter job.
Let's be careful out there !

Can I ask why you need both permanent and switched? I have mine wired to the switched feed for the Aux/cigarette lighter socket. And it initiates every time the ignition is switched on. In the event of a bump when parked the internal battery brings it on to record the incident outcome (I have the G-option disabled).

The camera has a buffered parking mode and the hardwire kit has connections for both live and switched. It automatically switches off the parking mode when the voltage drops below a pre-determined setting which is set up in the App on your phone.

Quite a few need switched and permanent. They also have a voltage cutoff, just in case it detects the car battery is running low, often 11.8v

Yes it is one if those, adjustable in 0.2v increments from 11.8 to 12.4v

Am I correct in thinking that fuse 28, which is the driver's door power lock will be a permanent live feed?

Just a quick update on this in case anyone else requires a permanent live feed in the cabin fuse box, I can confirm that fuse position #21 which is empty in my fuse box as I do not have front fogs is indeed a permanent live.
