Lower console light?

Just noticed a light near the USB/Power socket on the center console of our 2012 Jazz EX, that shines down on the little storage areas beneath. Comes on with sidelights then headlights I think - but neither of us can ever remember seeing it before.

Now we have, we find it very distracting.

Have we been totally unobservant over 8 years of EX ownership? Have we somehow accidentally switched it on? Is it something new on the 2012 car? We had a 2008 before.

I can't see any switches to turn it off. Can it be?

Its ambient lighting, it's on my 11 EX too, I quite like it, just use a torch to locate the led and use some black  electrical tape to hide it if you don't like it.

Thanks - couldn't find any mention of it in the Owners handbook or sales brochure but now we know it's a 'feature' it'll just blend into the background.

In fact, funny but knowing what it is, it's looking dimmer already!
