ABS modulator/pump
« on: January 09, 2015, 08:25:35 PM »
Hello all, I am wondering if an air lock can cause the ABS modulator to stop working?, it's been diagnosed by Honda (DTC 51)as the fault (discussed in previous post).
When I was testing it today, I could hear the pump running when I turn the ignition to the first step so I was starting to think about air locks or dirt in the valve, I also wouldn't mind checking the earth side of it and give it a clean up (from the photo does anyone know the earth pin(s) and where it terminates off?)

One last request ;D

Has anyone ever stripped and refurbished an ABS pump/modulator? I will probably fit unit from the scrappers but I would like to strip my faulty pump/modulator  down and have a mooch about, some tips would be really handy (photos, websites, diagrams etc) if anyone would be kind enough to share.

Are you sure that dtc 51 is an abs fault? It reads as an eeprom fault code mostly. Brake faults seem to be mostly in the 30's.
