Restarting after a stall
«

My 2008 Jazz starts first time - even after being left for 2 weeks in an airport car-park in the UK in December. However, on some occasions if I happen to stall it when the engine is warm, I find that the starter will sometimes fail to turn the engine over and all the lights on the dash go down. Is this a sign of something - or is it perhaps due to residual compression in the cylinders making it hard to get cranking?

I see similarities to the issue discussed in this thread

I occasionally stall my Jazz but so far have not had a problem restarting, The battery/car is four years old and does very few short journeys.
The battery was tested today during a service and passed OK.

I am such a great driver that I have never ever stalled my Jazz.
The fact that it is automatic has nothing to do with its lack of stalling.

Sounds 100% like a failing battery to me. At the time you tried to start it, were any other electrical accessories on (lights, fan, aircon, rear window demister)?

Nothing much running. The engine whips over quickly when cold - it is only when trying to start a warm engine if I should stall it (not a frequent habit) that I have experienced this strange problem.
