I have just had my brake pads changed today and was wondering will I need to adjust the handbrake or will it
Improve once the pads have bedded in?

Handbrake should be self tightening. Give it a few miles to bed the pads in.
However, with that said the Jazz's handbrake cable is known to stretch. The same happened in my accord, honda design flaw I'm afraid.
