Built in sat nav
« on: April 24, 2014, 09:49:23 PM »
Got a 2010 jazz with built in sat nav with the flip down screen. Now the screen has decided to flip down at random times and sometimes when I start the car. It refuses to go back up when I press the button. It also beeps to tell me it's down but if I press the button to close it won't. If I leave it while driving or parked it closes itself.. Anyone got any ideas?

I thought the official Honda sat nav didn't have a flip down screen?

Which sat nav do you have?

This...

or this...

I think sat nav is quite a rare option on a Jazz, but the latter is also fitted to the some other Honda models - maybe the Civinfo.com (Civic forum) might be able to help?

The first one is fitted to my 2011 EXT and the screen flips down when you press the eject button in the bottom right corner. This reveals the CD slot.

Did you spray it with any liquid cleaner to cause a short circuit?

Nope. No liquid cleaner. Only really seems to happen when it's hot in the car.

Good dealers would stick the radio code sticker on the side of the glovebox...read when open. I've had a couple like that, perhaps yours is there?

The code will be xxxxx - 5 digits give it a go.
Swtich on then wait for the CODE to flash , enter your 5 digits and your away.
[May need to re set clock}
Your Sat Nav was £1.2k when new.....

Tried it.. No luck. Still looking for a 5 digit number.. Honda say 3 day turn around.. £45 plus vat and an hours labour to stip it out of dashboard.. About £160 in total.. Going to someone on Monday to get it decoded I hope... Cost £25... Will let you know how it goes..

Ok. My head unit just grew arms and legs.. Turns out the clarion sat nav/radio has 2 chips in it and previous owner changed PIN number .. Tried to reset to factory but no joy.. Still lookin for previous owners pin stored on second chip.. Looks like it'll have to be sent away.. I won't have any change out of £100.. Previous owner was arnold clark honda. It was a lease car.. They no longer have the franchise and none of the paperwork for any of their honda ex lease cars... A word to the wise.. Remember keep your radio code safe...
