New Classified rules
« on: January 21, 2013, 09:19:07 PM »
I would appreciate some feedback on the amended classified rules I've drawn up that can be found here. The new rules are to protect genuine buyers and sellers and to provide some clarity as to what is OK and what is not.

The new rules come into affect on the 1st February 2013. If there are no objections (or no feedback) the rules will come into effect on that date.

I presume clause 13 does not preclude asking questions abut the item?

Is it not "buyer beware" in the UK then?

What is the reason for clause 4?

Will you provide a method for the poster to easily cancel the ad when the item has been sold?

Questions are welcome and encouraged, the problem is when posters make comments like 'rip-off', etc.

Yes.

What is the reason for clause 4?

If someone on here wishes to buy the item they shouldn't have to wait until the auction on ebay ends.

Will you provide a method for the poster to easily cancel the ad when the item has been sold?

Post a new reply to the advert stating 'Now sold' or words to the effect and I will move it to the archive forum.

I frequently advertise items on a SA on-line auction site (similar to eBay) and on Gumtree.  If someone buys the item off the Gumtree ad, I delete the entry on the on-line auction.

Obviously you have to be careful that there have been no bids on the on-line auction, or you cannot delete the auction, unless you have multiple items.

I think policing whether an ad also appears on eBay would be difficult, you will just have to rely on the posters' integrity

I've added a sub-forum for ebay sales:
http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?board=114

The usual classified's rules apply.

Rules updated - http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=4600.0

All new adverts will now require Admin approval before they will appear in the classifieds.
