Welcome to the forum @150234

Sounds like you have been on a bit of a mission to try and kill your car! They are built very well.

Part of me is laughing and remembering the stupid things I used to do in cars 30+ yrs ago when I passed my test. Stories I could tell...

The other part of me is full of compassion for your poor little Honda and all the hard times!

Either way, a big welcome to the forum 150234. 8)

Yes, welcome. When I was a young lad my dad bought a car from a mate and I borrowed it that evening and ran the big-end bearings.

Sounds like you’ve been through it all in your Jazz, gives the plots of the fast & furious films a run for their money…

Hope it lives on for a while yet and you defeat more wild animals and destructive kids !
You could say that. Half of it is my own doing of course, but a few things were out of my control. Either way, I don't think many brands would put up with such mechanial and physical abuse.

Thank you.  :)

I have been on a mission actually, I bought it in febuary in 2020 and said to myself "I will get a few miles on the clock to practice and get used to real world driving then ditch it in may". Turns out I didn't specify which may as a whole year later I still have the damn thing. What was going to be a cheap run around for in town for a few months because a 15 month offroading motorway cruising stunt driving beast.

We have all had fun in our cars, especially our first ones.

Again, thank you for the welcome.

Update on my Jazz:

On Friday night it reached 140,000 miles and it now at 140,135. If, and it is an if, it reaches 142,112 miles then I will have done 30,000 miles which isn't bad for a car that cost me £900 quid in Febuary 2020. It haven't spend 120 quid on MOT work so into total the car has cost me £1020 including repairs and purchase.

30,000 miles for £1020 isn't bad at all.

Currently putting around 1500 - 1800mi a month on the 2003 Jazz and it's going well, but is really starting to show it's age now.

Also, time for tyres soon. At this rate of mileage they aren't lasting long but the vast majority of them are city miles.

That's me at 147,000 but it won't get much higher. Not through any failings of the Jazz but because I no longer drive much. Instead of two top-ups a week I haven't needed to put petrol in since September. And that is despite my mpg dropping from 60 mpg to 45 mpg.

147,000 isn't bad you know. As for the MPG drop, I am currently averaging 40mpg so think yourself lucky with your 45mpg. I have no idea how you guys do it, maybe my car is just in efficient or just draggy some how I don't know.

There is a signifficant dent in the bonnet which means that it always looks like it's open even though it's latched shut. That probably doesn't help as air is likely causing extra drag and it's probably quite a lot as well as the front of the mk1 isn't to bad for aero as cars go. Even if it increases drag by 10% (easily possible) then that's 4mpg gone already.

I only struggle for mpg at higher speed (70mph is where I get 40mpg) as at lower speed (say 40) it's much more reasonsable. This is what leads me to believe that the extra drag is causing the issue and not something else.

55 Reg 1.2dsi = 125K miles.  Runs beautifully now that I have had gearbox bearings replaced and new clutch.
