"JDM" Wiper Modification
« on: March 26, 2011, 06:31:46 PM »
Found this guide on FitFreak.net, and thought I would post it on here, as its a nice little mod that doesn't cost a penny to do (unless you don't have the tools :P).

The Wiper Mod basically means your wiper will look like this:

So heres the guide Copied from Fit Freaks:

JDM Wiper Mod

DISCLAIMER: ONLY ATTEMPT THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, HAVE ALL THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB PROPERLY. ONLY ATTEMPT IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH DIY PROJECTS AND HAVE SOME SORT OF MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE.

Read everything below before starting on this DIY

Tools needed are:

•   Phillips screwdriver
•   Flat head screwdriver
•   10mm socket wrench.
•   Gloves*
•   Grease*

(*) optional

1. Remove the rear wiper cap and unbolt the rear wiper. (10mm socket.)

2. Remove the hatch panel.

3. Once you've taken off the rear panel. You'll see the wiper motor. Remove that by taking the 3 hex bolts off. (10mm socket.)

4. You'll see that next to the hex bolts are 4 screw, remove them.

5. Once removing that, you'll see a long rectangular pinion attached to a plastic gearing on one side and a metal pivot on the other.

6. Next, Right under the side attached to the plastic gearing is a small plastic pin. Using a flat head screwdriver, break it off.

7. After breaking the plastic pin, remove the pinion and reposition the metal pivot down (It slides down).

8. Reposition the pinion in the NEW hole and relocated metal pivot.

9. Re-install everything backwards.

10. When reinstalling the rear wiper blade, play around with it so you don’t wipe your rear garnish.

Have fun and be safe.

The main advantage is that with the wiper being up, it wont collect dust and dirt and rub it all over your boot glass when you use the wiper (also it wont collect snow in the winter :P).

Also it looks better :D!

It acctually works better in the upright position, as like chis says it collects dirt when its horizontal so on the first wipe it smears the back window.
And you get slightly better visability  :P

There should be more modified jazzes. Honda made a huge mistake by not selling the 1.5vtec and the new GE RS.

The wiper does work better in upright position, it was like that on my civic and especially good in winter because it didn't collect ice and snow and get stuck to the screen.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot
