There's only one usb port that works and that is the one on the dash nearest the driver. The other 3 are only charging points.
If you plug in there it should work.

I'm using a 16Gb micro USB formatted to FAT32.

The micro stops it getting knocked and FAT32 means when loaded with .MP3 it's FIFO.

...A usb (or full size / micro SD card in adaptor) memory stick etc formatted as fat32.
Can be all 'loose' in the root directory or organised into folders.
Music - mp3 format
Video - WMV works, some AVI will too (I haven't gone through exhaustive trial) for your movies, music videos etc.
Video will revert to audio only when you move out of (P)ark

I used a SanDisk 64gb USB low profile stick
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MDXBTL1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
which seems to be going up in price weekly!

...and as mentioned insert stick into right hand slot that has USB symbol on it not just the charging one.

...If your windows based computing device refuses to allow fat32 formatting, perhaps because of stick size then try:
https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/fat32format.html and use their proggy.

Thank you all, check my SanDisk Ultra Trek 64GB Ruggedized USB 3.0 Flash Drive up to 130MB/s read speed, Black, it is formatted to NTFS, will change to FAT and report back.

TBH, I'd be getting a smaller 32Gb USB so you can easily FAT format it in Windows.

...It was weird that although I ordered 2 identical sticks, one for me and one for a new H-RV owning work colleague, one formatted fine in windows and the other would only give the option of exfat or ntfs, hence requiring an external program. A smaller stick is an option and will save you a couple of quid maybe.

Although 64gb will let you listen to close to 20,000 mp3 tracks, quality dependent of course :)
Videos and higher bitrate mp3s will take up more room. Depends on your available library.

My Civics always demanded a MP3 sample rate of 44100 Hz. Being as that was the default Windows CD to MP3 rip rate I stuck with it and all my 4 Hondas have had no issues with it.

... That's sound level though isn't it?
Bitrate is the quality it's ripped at. Most of mine are are 128bit, std CD quality. 256bit or 320bit etc may sound better but will take up more room on the stick

Just checked mine.....

My ripped .MP3 are 192kbps and my downloaded Amazon ones are 240/270/299kbps, they vary.

I don't see any point for me to try to improve quality as the inside of a car isn't a sound studio :)

Thanks again to all, FAT32 formatting solved problem.

W11 would only allow exFat but downloaded HPUSBDisk and it formatted as required.

Instant music of very good quality when plugged in.
