Early hours forum posting
« on: November 04, 2021, 09:00:37 AM »
Just as a matter of interest - why do some forum postings appear to be made in the middle of the night?
Are they just scheduled for when online traffic is at its lowest for instance?

Guilty as charged m'lud

I keep odd hours to most so 04:00 is the norm for my first foray.

At the other end of the scale you won't often see me posting after about 18:00
Let's be careful out there !

I'm one of those weird people who has two sleeps a night. Look it up, it's a thing. And it has become more prevalent as I get older. I might sleep from half ten to half two, then be awake for a couple of hours, then sleep again until my wife gets up.

I do it out of choice, because I can.

It's also beneficial for the 2 forums I help look after so when the majority log in, at a sensible time, all the spammers and dodgy links are gone :)

You guys may need these,  gives me a good nights sleep.  5-HTP is the stuff your body uses to create both seratonin ( for staying awake when it is light ) and melatonin ( for sleeping in the dark ).  Don't ask me how the body knows what to do with it,  but I can vouch for it working,  with no noticeable side effects.   In my case I am ultra-sensitive to caffiene and only process it very slowly - any 'proper'  coffee or tea after noon can give me a bad nights sleep,  and even decaff after about 6pm.  I get off to sleep Ok, but will suddenly wake after 2 to 3 hours sleep and that is it for the night.

I like the way Lindens pack stuff into sachets rather than plastic bottles,  because the sachets fit through you letterbox and the plastic bottles don't.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

In my case I have no problem sleeping. I get a good 8 or 9 hours a night.

It's my choice to pack in early and get up early. When I worked I had to be in the office by 06:00 and with the 5 'S's then a 40 minute journey I'm used to it, like it, so continue :)

I worked shifts for a long part of my career but moved to 9 to 5 for the last 10 years after a promotion. When I was on  9 to 5 I used to like to get in the office at around 7.30 before the phones started ringing and the office filled up. This entailed getting up at 5.30 am but it was worth it. You could get a lot done in that first uninterrupted hour.

I've been retired for some years now and I seem to have completely changed my sleeping pattern to late to bed, late to rise. I am evidently an owl but only realised this on retirement.

I took early retirement but have been suffering from waking at about 4am most mornings for a few years.
Initially it was either through creaky boards or needing a wee, now I'm waking abruptly at the same time and occasionally get fixated about trying not to forget to look up stuff on the Internet....
I rarely seem to have a good night sleep but have to not disturb the other half. That's if she hasn't debunked to the next bedroom due to my snoring  :o
