2019 VW golf 1.0l, garaged, minimum mileage, 1 owner.
« on: October 23, 2021, 06:53:35 PM »
Hi All, hope every1 good.
Very briefly, there is outside chance I maybe able to get above car for £7500.00-it has cosmetic damage of scuff to front left bumper caused when driving into garage! (the £7500 is what has been offered from online purchase company from what I can gather) have searched online for like for like cannot find anything for less than £12k.
Would you buy and sell current own jazz 2010 si 40k miles (cat c)?
What would you do?
TY for your choice and answer.

Exchange and Mart might be your better option.

I'd be tempted to swap. Judging from AutoTrader low mileage Jazz Mk2s are getting good prices just now. It's not purely a logical decision. It depends how much you want the Golf.

Or is it? What do you think?

Used mk2 prices are crazy at the moment, lower mileage ones in the 4,5,6k range near me  :o

Would like to keep jazz but golf is 2019 and jazz 2010...plus the value of golf...never ever find 1 at that price ever unless off relation. (my jazz is actually cat c and cost half of what car would've been worth if not cat c-was worth £5k'ish and bought £2200).

Yep keep the Jazz, modern VW’s are not much good, great looks but not great cars.   Your Jazz might be still running when that VW is recycled.

I would go for the Golf, I am on my 15th  VW, allways found them to be  excellent , the only thing that I would say is test drive it, that 1 litre
engine is the least powerfull unit in the Golf range. I have that engine in my Polo, which is a superb drive, but the Golf
is a bigger car. You are not likely to get positive vote for a VW on a Honda forum, but they are really good drive, we
have the Mk2 Jazz as well, no problems with that either, but VW drive is much smoother, the suspension is
softer and more suited to our shocking roads.

Before any changes always get a hpi or Experian check followed up with MOT history from gov site and a 30 Mon test drive.
VW's are poor examples of German engineering these days, as for the coffee cup dealerships.....
Keep the Jazz

I would agree about the ride being more compliant than the Jazz.

Currently have a Mk4 Golf (1999) 2.3 litre which we have owned since 2005 and have also owned Golfs Mk1, 2 & 3 (both hatchback and cabriolets) and also agree that a 1litre engine would be rather small for such a comparatively heavy car.   Neighbour had a Mk5 when he moved in and to be honest, it didn't impress me with regards to quality and he subsequently sold it, which put me off buying another more recent model of Golf, hence why I now have a Mk2 Jazz as my daily run-around and the Golf is for longer journeys.

Just like the Jazz has a reputation as a grannymobile in the UK, the stereotypical Golf driver is the must-be-in-front impatient racer.

That goes for pretty much every German car,  except the Skoda Fabia ( OK not entirely German ),  which is also an 'Oldsmobile' car.   The Skoda factory made a lot of German tanks and other heavy war stuff in WW2...
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot
