Telepeage Mounting.
« on: September 09, 2021, 12:53:24 PM »
I often (used to) go to Europe and had an autoroute Telepeage unit on the windscreen to save stopping at pay stations. It was mounted just beside the drivers mirror in the cross-banded semi-black area of the windscreen.  This no longer exists on Mark 4 and nor on many other cars it seems. Can someone tell me what it was designed for and what purpose it served? Thanks.

The semi-black area on the screen by the rear view mirror is to stop glare from low sun coming through the gap between the two sunvisors. My last (early) Yaris didn't have that area blacked, it was just plain glass, and in the wrong circumstances it was a nightmare for glare from low sun. I fitted a strip of tinted film over that area.

I've mounted mine on the right side of the camera assembly (I'm driving on the opposite side of the UK guys) on top of the windscreen, have already used it without any issue.
