Crosstar Tyres
« on: September 08, 2021, 10:54:04 AM »
Somewhere I remember seeing a thread regarding the difficulty of getting correct tyre size for the Crosstar. I have never liked Dunlop, which seems to be the OE (strange that the new HR-V fit Michelin)
This may help.

I have Falken All Seasons on the Karoq. They are excellent.

I raised this some time ago. Crosstar tyre size has very limited availability and none of the top rated European manufacturers make tyres in the 185/60 R16 size. The Falken All Seasons are probably the best of tyres available.

Toyo, Bridgestone, Goodyear, all make tyres of the correct size

But, if you check all the tyre road tests on line you will find that none of them perform as well as European spec tyres.

Are Crosstar tyres different from those for the Jazz 16 inch wheels?

Google says.
Honda Jazz 2020 1.5 i-MMD
Tire                      Rim
185/55R16 87H   6Jx16 ET45   OE

BTW! Beware of Goodyear! I had to replace two at only 6k miles due to bubbles in the sidewalls.
Protyre said that Goodyear have thinner walls than other makes and are prone to sidewall failure.

55 rather than 60 profile on Crosstar. So slightly higher profile and sidewall, which should give a slightly more compliant ride.
If you swapped for 195/55 R16 tyres rather than 185/60 R16 tyres then opens huge choice of tyres. However, probably void the warranty!

They are all made to the same spec. EU & Uk that’s come from a major tyre manufacturer

Not so, tread design, compounds etc are different.

Nope wrong check lettering and numbering on tyre walls and EU markings.

I think you may both talking at cross purposes?

May be, the same tyres by a manufacturer sold worldwide are the same specification and tread pattern.

Different manufacturers will have different tread patterns and compounds to other manufacturers also sold worldwide.

So you both may be right  :)

You are probably right. Perhaps to clarify I was referring to, for example, Goodyear efficientgrip tyres and/or Goodyear Vector 4 seasons both tyres have excellent reviews in European tests but neither are available in 185/60 R16 to fit the Crosstar.
