Title: Oops - how to deal with this?
Post by: richardfrost on August 09, 2021, 06:00:48 PM
Scraped the side of my RAV4 manoeuvring past my neighbours horrible wall which has projections!

Any tips on how to deal with this or is it off to the body shop? Doesn't go down to the metal but does go through several layers of paint!

Look up 'Chips Away', I had excellent service from them.

If you can feel the sratches with your nail, it won't polish out. Ask your local paint depot for a quote.

Oh dear. I had a similar amount of damage which happened while I was parked. I got a quote from Chips Away but a friend of my wife recommended a local man. No frills, working out of a shed but a fantastic job at a third of the price!
It's not what you know it's who you happen to know.
Good luck.

Sadly, I can feel the scratches. Thanks for the tip. I have to say, with pearlescent metallic, I wasn't thinking polishing would be enough.

Try a rubbing compound.  It will not remove the scratches but may remove improve the visually appearance until you get a more permanent solution.
