Title: Damaged rear light cluster
Post by: Maurice on September 16, 2019, 09:19:50 PM

Somehow, one of my rear light clusters was damaged recently, leaving a jagged hole in the plastic shield, roughly an inch in diameter.

All the bulbs continue to function properly.

I covered the cluster with transparent ducktape, and the damage isn't even noticeable except close up.

Has anyone had to replace this light cluster? Is it a difficult job?

Also, any opinions on whether it's likely to be an MOT failure, or advisory, in its present state?

Is the hole on a red section?

Does it show white when lights are on?

If neither. It could be ok for MOT.

But have a quiet word with the tester well before the due date.
Incase it does need changing

Previous reply correct .its all about does the damage show white at night, you can cover a rear lamp damage with appropriate clear /amber /red tape available for your local motor factor or even Halfords -  a couple of quid, a 2 min job.
