AUX MP3 Socket in 05/06 1.2 Jazz NOT in 04 1.4
« on: July 11, 2006, 11:06:09 AM »
Can anyone help? I have a 1.4i SE 2004 Jazz. My friend has a 2005-06 1.2 Jazz. Basically they the same interior but the 1.2 has the smaller engine and lower spec tech. Well, all except one thing. Above the cigarette lighter is a headphone socket for MP3 players (AUX) items. In my Civic, that very same spot has a push out panel for said socket but no socket.

I *WANT* that to be a socket but I don’t know how I go about it. Any ideas?

Thanks

Martin

I do not understand the big deal about not including a AUX-in for your iPod! If a Toyota Aygo can offer one why can’t a £50,000 Audi A8 also provide one in its top-range stereo? (if yoy saw Monday’s 5th Gear you will know what I mean!) Too many car makers are slow to catch-on to ‘new’ trends - just look at many cars had cassette players long after everyone started buying CDs.

/\ Strictly speaking, yes. Some old law from the 1940s I think forbidds you from broadcasting your own ‘radio station’ which basically is what you’re doing by using a device to send the ipod output over the airwaves. So I was told.

Ofcom have now lifted the ban! You can now legally use these devices in your car. They were considered illegal because it was thought the signals would interfere with those of the radio stations.

Apparently, retailers here could sell them legally, but only for use in other European countries.
