Bootlid differences
« on: December 04, 2019, 01:35:49 PM »
Hi all,

I have a 2004 5 door Jazz. I need to replace the bootlid asap but I was wondering if they are the same across the years.  I have been offered a bootlid from a 2006 car but it DOESN'T have the lock barrel on the bootlid. I'm really not bothered by that so otherwise would this be a straight forward swap or would there be wiring issues?

Any help much appreciated.

Pics attached, the damaged boot is to be replaced by the none damaged one. As can be seen below the jazz  badge is a lock which is not present on the potential replacement bootlid.

Have a look here. https://www.parts-honda.uk/honda-cars/JAZZ
The tailgate has the same part number, 2005 and 2006.
Lock issue may be because they are off different models (say an S and an SE).
My 56 plate S has the lock.

That link doesn't give me the option for a 1.3S model so I selected 1.3DSI. Part number is 68100-SAA-Q00ZZ.

When you say lock may be an issue what do you mean? Currently my boot lock is useless anyway as the door/ignition lock barrels were changed, the boot lock barrel wasn't changed so I can't operate it anyway. Boots locks from central locking which is sufficient for me.

If that suits you, then fine.
The 2002 - 2008 (Mk 1) was available in the UK as a 1.2 or a 1.4. The 1.4 has a 1339 cc engine.

So does that mean that it will definitely fit I.e. shape of the bootlid is the same across the whole range?

And will it be plug and play I.e. connectors will be the same?

From my research all the bootlids have the same part number. I would have thought the wiring would be the same as there are not a lot of electrics on a tailgate.

You normally have to strip the loom out of the tailgate when swapping them, if there is anything different on the replacement tailgate, allt the electrical components, trim panels, etc., can be swapped over too if necessary.

The actual pressings for the tailgate are the same from 2002 right through to 2008.
