Oil and filter changed
« on: August 20, 2019, 08:08:59 PM »
My son-in-law popped in after work and changed my oil and filter. He used the SHELL Helix Ultra Professional AG 5W30 Fully Synthetic oil, I picked up cheap from eBay and Euro Car Parts, Honda oil filter, and a new sump plug washer. It cost me a tenner, for a couple of pints to quench his thirst.
I will see how my oil consumption goes from here.
My mpg for the day was about 45 but by the time I had run the engine until it was warm the mpg had dropped to 26. So don't sit with your engine ticking over if you want good mpg.
John had his new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter LWB van, with all the toys, including air con, and he loves it. Only problem was it arrived with the limiter set for 55 mph and Mercedes UK doesn't have the software to reset it. Until the software can be sent from Germany, he is the tortoise on the motorway! Even the trucks blast past him.
Talking of trucks, it has a split charging system giving him a 24v option, for jump starting trucks.
